Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
1. About this policy
Vidoni is a suite of apps operated by Daniel Vidoni in Australia. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use the Vidoni website, account, wallet, and any Vidoni app that links to this policy.
This policy should be read with our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the services. A separate product, such as StoreFinder, may have its own account, terms, and privacy policy.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, to the extent those laws apply to us.
2. What information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use Vidoni.
- Account and profile information. Name, nickname, email address, phone number, country, login credentials, and other profile information you choose to provide.
- Sign-in provider information. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive the identity information needed to create or authenticate your Vidoni account, such as your name, email address, and provider account identifier. We do not request access to unrelated information in those accounts.
- Payment and wallet information. Top-up amount, currency, payment status, transaction references, account balance, auto top-up preference, and payment-provider customer or payment method references. Stripe handles the card and billing details entered into the payment form.
- App and usage information. The Vidoni app or feature used, selected languages or settings, session information, usage amounts, timing or duration, and information needed to calculate and display your prepaid balance.
- Speech, text, and translation content. When you use a real-time translation feature, the speech or other content you choose to send, and the resulting translation information, are processed as necessary to provide that feature. Vidoni does not offer a user-facing conversation-history service.
- Technical and approximate location information. IP address, browser and device information, browser language or locale, approximate country or region, request dates and times, essential cookies, and limited app preferences. Precise device location is not required for a Vidoni account.
- Messages and support information. The information you submit through the contact form or when you report a problem, request support, or report a security concern.
3. How we collect information
- Directly from you. For example, when you register, update your profile, top up your balance, contact us, or use an app feature.
- From providers you choose. For example, Google or Microsoft when you use their sign-in service, Stripe when you make a payment, and an AI service provider when a feature requires it.
- Automatically when you use Vidoni. Our website and apps receive ordinary technical information from your browser or device so that we can provide, secure, and support the service.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and support your account;
- provide the Vidoni apps and features you request, including real-time translation;
- remember relevant settings and provide language, country, or other service suggestions;
- process top-ups, auto top-ups, balance changes, receipts, and other billing activity;
- communicate with you about your account, payments, service operation, support requests, and important changes;
- prevent fraud, repeated trial or promotional-credit abuse, unauthorised access, and other prohibited activity;
- diagnose faults, maintain reliability, investigate complaints, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms of Service;
- comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests; and
- protect the rights, property, safety, and integrity of Vidoni, our users, and others.
If we create information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it no longer reasonably identifies you, we may use it to understand and improve our services.
We do not use personal information for targeted advertising or use essential account, device, or security information to track you across unrelated websites.
5. When we disclose information
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate Vidoni, subject to appropriate limits on how they may use it. Depending on the feature, these may include:
- Stripe for payment processing, receipts, and authorised auto top-ups. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google or Microsoft for sign-in, when you choose that option.
- AI service providers used by particular Vidoni features, such as OpenAI for TongZ real-time translation. The speech, text, and related information required by that feature may be processed by the provider. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Approximate location providers. During country suggestion or similar flows, an IP address may be sent to ipapi.co for a country or approximate-location lookup.
- Hosting, communications, support, and technical providers that help deliver and maintain the services.
We may also disclose information:
- when you ask us to, authorise it, or choose to use a third-party service;
- where required or permitted by law, court order, or legal process;
- to protect people, property, rights, or the service; or
- as part of a merger, sale, restructuring, insolvency, or similar business transaction.
6. International processing
Vidoni is operated from Australia and its core infrastructure is hosted in Sydney. Some service providers may process information outside Australia. Providers, including AI and payment providers, may use distributed infrastructure, content-delivery networks, and processing locations that change over time. We therefore cannot reliably publish a fixed country-by-country list. The destination and safeguards depend on the provider and the feature you use. When you use a third-party service, that provider's own terms and privacy policy may also apply.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide and protect the services, or for legitimate business and legal purposes. The period depends on the type and sensitivity of the information.
- Account and profile information is generally kept while your account is active and afterwards only as needed for billing, fraud prevention, disputes, legal obligations, or other lawful purposes.
- Wallet, payment, and transaction records may be retained after account closure for accounting, tax, payment dispute, fraud-prevention, and legal record-keeping purposes.
- Technical, security, and activity information is kept for a limited period appropriate to the purpose, although longer retention may be necessary to investigate an incident, prevent abuse, resolve a dispute, or comply with law.
- Translation and session information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for service delivery, usage and billing, support, reliability, abuse prevention, dispute resolution, or legal purposes. Third-party providers may apply their own retention periods.
- De-identified or aggregated information may be retained where it no longer reasonably identifies you.
8. Your choices and rights
You can view and update much of your profile information through your Profile page. You can also contact us through the contact form to request:
- access to, or a copy of, personal information we hold about you;
- correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- deletion or closure of your account, subject to information we must or may retain; or
- help with a privacy concern or a request to limit a particular use where applicable law provides that right.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will respond within a reasonable period and aim to respond within 30 days. Some requests may be refused or limited where permitted or required by law, including where information is needed for financial records, security, fraud prevention, legal claims, or the rights of another person. Deleting your Vidoni account does not necessarily delete records held by a payment, sign-in, AI, or other third-party provider under that provider's own policy.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Children's information
Vidoni services are intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us through the contact form so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the services, law, or our information practices change. We will post the current version here and update the date above. Where a change is material, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practicable.
11. Contact us
Questions, access requests, deletion requests, and privacy complaints can be submitted through the Vidoni contact form.
